Contemporary scientific research increasingly relies on international collaboration. This is not merely a passing trend but a response to the complex, transnational challenges facing research today. International cooperation enhances the quality of research, promotes the circulation of methods, and enables the development of projects of a scale and impact difficult to achieve at the national level. Linguistics is no exception. As a discipline focused on the study of language, it naturally benefits from cross-border collaboration: research on a given language often transcends national boundaries and is enriched by contributions from foreign research centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dynamic and multifaceted, French-Polish cooperation is expressed in several subfields of linguistics, including contrastive studies, lexicography and lexicology, the didactics of French as a foreign language, language acquisition, and bilingualism. This collaboration concerns not only collective publications and projects funded through national and international grants, but also teaching, notably through Erasmus+ mobility programmes and joint doctoral training under cotutelle arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed conference will constitute the first event entirely devoted to French-Polish scientific cooperation in linguistics. It will provide an opportunity to present a wide range of collaborative projects, showcase results from mixed research teams, exchange views on current issues and trends, strengthen existing ties, and foster the emergence of new forms of collaboration. The proposed thematic areas are open-ended and do not exhaust the research issues addressed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Scientific collaboration as a research subject
<\/strong>The first area concerns scientific collaboration, understood as an autonomous research subject. It encompasses the study of the forms, modes, and dynamics of cooperation in linguistics, particularly within French-Polish research teams. Within this axis, the issues of collaborative publishing practices and interdisciplinarity, which can characterise team-based research projects, can be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. International collaboration: institutional mechanisms, funding, mobility, research institutions, and scientific networks<\/strong>
The second topic is part of an institutional and structural reflection on international collaboration in linguistics. Within this area, it is proposed to analyse the institutional frameworks of scientific cooperation, the mechanisms of research funding and support (mobility, scholarships, joint supervision of doctoral theses, etc.), as well as policies for the internationalisation of research and higher education. Particular attention may be paid to the role of universities, research institutes, and scientific networks, as well as to support mechanisms for early-career researchers involved in international projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Linguistics in the face of contemporary challenges<\/strong>
The third topic proposes a reflection on the role of linguistics in relation to contemporary challenges, in the context of collaborative practices. It may address issues related to digital humanities and collaborative tools, the circulation of data, methods, and knowledge, and the societal impact of research in linguistics. Particular attention is recommended to phenomena related to the use of artificial intelligence and to ethical issues in collaborative research, such as ghostwriting<\/em>. Contributions addressing the use of inclusive language in research and scholarly production, as well as inclusivity in research more broadly, are also welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Dissemination and valorisation of the results of research<\/strong>
The fourth topic adopts both a practical and an empirical perspective. It is devoted to the presentation of research conducted within a Franco-Polish collaborative framework. It particularly invites international teams to present ongoing or completed projects, as well as results stemming from collective research. A reflective dimension is also encouraged: special attention may be given to dissemination practices, open access and research valorisation, publication strategies, and language and journal choices for scientific output. The issue of researcher visibility may also be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. French and Polish in a contrastive perspective and within the framework of intercultural communication<\/strong>
This fifth thematic area is devoted to contrastive research on French and Polish. It includes papers from various subdisciplines of linguistics, such as lexicology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, and applied linguistics, focusing on the description and analysis of similarities and differences between the two languages. This area also welcomes contributions adopting a cultural and intercultural perspective, particularly with regard to discourse, the conceptualization of meaning, communicative norms, and the socio-cultural determinants shaping the functioning of French and Polish. Submitted papers may result from collaborative or individual research, with a view to their possible continuation within future joint research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. French and Polish in a translation studies and didactic perspective<\/strong>
This sixth thematic area focuses on research in translation studies and foreign language didactics, with particular emphasis on the French\u2013Polish and Polish\u2013French language pair. It addresses linguistic analyses of the translation process, as well as translation techniques in written, audiovisual, and oral translation. This area also includes issues related to the teaching of French and Polish as foreign languages, as well as the use of digital tools and new technologies in language education. It is open to both collaborative research papers and individual studies, which may serve as a starting point for further joint research initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paper proposals should be submitted by 10 May 2026<\/strong> to the following address: collabfrpl@us.edu.pl<\/span>, using the DOCX submission form available for download below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and decisions regarding acceptance or rejection will be communicated within two weeks of receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presentation format<\/strong>
Each presentation will last 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference fee<\/strong>
The conference fee is 150 euros and covers conference participation, conference materials, and refreshments.
Payment information will be provided in the message confirming acceptance of the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Publication<\/strong>
A post-conference publication in English is planned to be published by a reputable publishing house.
The deadline for manuscript submission is 31 October 2026. Contributions will be reviewed on a rolling basis under a double-blind peer-review procedure.
Publication of the volume is scheduled for 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
